Transfinder Telematics Tablet and Hardware

Transfinder offers a fully integrated solution by providing not only the software solutions to manage transportation operations districtwide but the hardware as well for drivers to manage form submissions, vehicle substitutions, route navigation as well as tracking student ridership.

The Samsung Tab Active3 ruggedized tablets are purpose built for the tough conditions drivers see on the road everyday. IP68 rating means they are meant to handle wind, dust, liquid and drops as well as extreme temperatures and pressure changes. This level of durability ensures that you can count on the hardware working when drivers need it.

The ruggedized RAM mounts provide power and connectivity to accessories, like the RFID card reader, to provide a complete integrated solution. Tablets can be easily removed from the mount when needed for tasks like completing inspection reports.

From the tablet, drivers will log in using secure credentials.  Drivers will be able to navigate trips and track attendance in the Wayfinder app.  Drivers will also be able to submit form information that will all be tied to the routing platform in real-time.

Pre & Post Trip Inspection Forms

One critical aspect of our solution is managing pre and post trip inspections of vehicles, delivered through a versatile and customizable form solution.

Our advanced form solution is accessible from the in-vehicle tablet or a compatible mobile device, enabling drivers to conduct and submit their inspections effortlessly right from their vehicle. This mobile access facilitates timely inspections and promotes compliance with safety regulations.

Each inspection form is customized to meet the specific requirements of your district, ensuring that all critical inspection points are included. Whether it's checking the brakes, tires, lights, or emergency equipment, our form solution ensures a comprehensive evaluation of each vehicle before and after each trip.

One of the key benefits of our solution is real-time tracking of submitted inspections. Each inspection form submitted by a driver is instantly available on our routing platform. This facilitates immediate alerts for any reported defects, allowing for prompt action to ensure the safety of your fleet.

Our solution also includes a dynamic dashboard and report-generation tool. These features offer an at-a-glance overview of the inspection status of your fleet, tracking crucial information such as: pending inspections, reported defects, and maintenance schedules.

Scheduled reports can be set up to deliver data directly to your email, ensuring you are always up to date with the status of your fleet.

With our solution, managing pre and post trip inspections becomes an integrated part of your transportation operations, enhancing safety, accountability and efficiency.

In-Vehicle App for Navigation & Attendance Tracking

Turn-by-turn directions can be seen and heard by drivers for real-time navigation using the Wayfinder App.

Wayfinder provides on-screen visual guidance, and voice directions as you drive. Set the screen to go dark while the bus is in motion if required by state law.

Wayfinder was designed for schools, showing drivers the planned route, driving path and stop approach point. As drivers need to be rerouted, they’ll have access to their local district maps to know unsafe turns and streets. At each stop, the names and faces of each assigned student appear on screen.

Attendance can be taken with a simple tap of the photo or the scan of an RFID card. We can work with either option or a combination of both.

This information helps districts keep track of how many students were scheduled to ride compared to how many actually ride on a given day, week, etc.

Accurate Ridership Tracking

Key to school bus operations is combining route efficiency with accurate ridership tracking. With ID card readers, students can pass in front of the reader as they enter and exit the bus. NFC cards require no physical contact between the card and reader and they scan faster than an optical (barcode) scanner so they do not slow boarding times. They also do not wear out like credit-card magstripe cards and readers. Each card carries no personal information about the student - only a unique number - so a lost card does not result in the student’s identity being compromised.

This is integrated with the Routefinder PLUS software.  Today, with COVID and contact-tracing concerns, ID cards are critically important for determining exactly who was on a specific bus, on a specific trip, on a specific day. With this data, the district can notify families of potential exposure risks, and help stem the spread of the virus.

All attendance data captured through ID cards will be saved and available in Routefinder PLUS where it can be used for future analysis and reporting.

Transfinder’s dedicated card reader works with our vendor-provided student cards or with cards already in use at the district with support for RFID frequencies of 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz. This fast and reliable solution will make your student’s transportation safer and more efficient.

With the Wayfinder app on our rugged tablets, in addition to navigation and directions, drivers and bus aides can take attendance at each stop. Upon reaching a stop, Wayfinder will present a list of assigned students, with student photos, details on the student(s), and even alerts (critical information).  Attendance at the stop can be taken manually or with a student’s RFID card. Students that are not assigned to the stop can be added to a stop and attendance can be handled manually or with their RFID card, which will provide the driver a prompt to let them know a student is boarding or deboarding at an unplanned stop location. All attendance data captured through Wayfinder will be saved and available in Routefinder PLUS, where it can be used for future analysis and reporting.
