TROY, N.Y. — The Tri-City ValleyCats have encountered a number of firsts in the past couple of years.

A new league with different cities, a longer season schedule, and now a new brand addition to their uniform. Fans attending Opening Night at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium may have noticed a new logo in the top right corner of the familiar ValleyCats threads sponsored by Transfinder.

It marks the first-ever jersey sponsorship and the Transfinder logo will be on full display at home and on the road.

ValleyCats Vice President and General Manager Matt Callahan spoke about the merging of two strong local brands.

“It’s always a special day for us. It’s the earliest we’ve ever opened here, May 17, so we’re excited about that. We’re especially excited to kick off a brand new partnership with our great friends here at Transfinder Corporation. They’ve been great supporters and partners of ours for a number of years and this is an opportunity for us to grow that partnership,” Callahan said.

After the New York – Pennsylvania League was dissolved by Major League Baseball, it gave the ‘Cats the opportunity to toss the Houston Astros patch in the trash can and seek new ways to generate revenue and keep the team viable.

“We joined the Frontier League last year which brought with it a lot of new opportunities for us and one of them is the ability to do some unique partnerships like putting a brand on our uniform so they can put that right on the field of play. When you take a step back and you think about potential partners in the Capital Region, you think about companies that invest in this region, are committed to quality of life, and want to continue to grow within the Capital Region as an employer and an investor in the community and right at the top top of that list when we were brainstorming was Transfinder,” Callahan noted regarding the partnership.

“We started some conversations and we were able to grow our partnership and we’re excited to do that today,” Callahan added.

Transfinder is certainly no stranger to supporting local sports, sponsoring the field where the Albany Empire play football and now an addition to their partnership with the ValleyCats.

“I’m very honored to be sponsoring your ValleyCats. Let’s face it, the ValleyCats have been a fabric of the community and we’re super pumped that now we’re part of your fabric too,” Antonio Civitella, president, and CEO of Transfinder, remarked on the deal.

“A couple [of] things about [the] jersey, we always talk about [the] jersey and we emphasize more the front than the back,” Civitella continued.

“Another thing about [the] jersey, it’s OK to get this jersey dirty during the game because that means you played all you could and so we want it to be as dirty as possible. Thank you so much for the honor, let’s have some fun, Vamos Gatos!” Civitella exclaimed.
